Checotah Landmark Preservation Society
Checotah Landmark Preservation Society (CLPS) was chartered by the State of Oklahoma on Sept. 9, 1984, listing its formation as a nonprofit group “to own, preserve or restore Checotah landmarks; to gather and preserve locally historic artifacts; to establish a museum to raise money for ongoing purposes of the society.”
Motivated by Creek Chief, the late W.E. “Dode” McIntosh, along with a group of Checotahans with a huge interest in Checotah’s history, met in May 1984 to form a new organization, Checotah Landmark Preservation Society (CLPS).
